Feeling tired, unwell or just slightly off? You are not alone. For so many, this state of being has become the norm. We’ve become complacent and accepted this as reality. But what if I told you this doesn’t have to be your reality?

We live in a culture that focuses on external diagnosis, encourages us to just treat the symptoms and narrows down a long list of ailments to a single disease. As a result, many of us have stopped trusting our self-awareness and rely solely on outside help; from doctors to a Google search. We’re so used to seeking out help from outside of ourselves, that we have forgotten that we can take a role in our own physical, mental and emotional health.

So, the first step is to take some agency back. When you start to feel crappy, see this as an invitation to get curious. In the early stages of feeling unwell, we can easily make simple changes to feel more balanced. For example, if you are tired, start by asking yourself if you’ve had enough water, you’re hungry or had a restless nights sleep. The answer may reveal the remedy. On the flip side, when you are feeling at your best, examine what you are doing that is working so you can keep that going.

Ayurveda is translated as “the science of life”. At its essence, it teaches us to pay attention to ourselves and see where we can make shifts to improve the body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda offers many wholistic strategies to make theses shifts, including determining our own unique baseline for health and state of balance. Once we know what good & balanced feels like for us, we can then begin to notice what gets off off-balance.

According to Ayurveda, the one thing that influences our health more than anything else is our metabolic fire, or agni, in Sanskrit. Agni is responsible for all physiological transformations. It also governs; metabolism, digestion, absorption and assimilation in the GI tract, digestion of thoughts and emotions and our immune system.

So, when agni is not functioning well, our overall health suffers. What are sign that your agni isn’t at its best?

  • Digestive difficulties

  • Spicy, salty, or sweet cravings

  • Frequent lack energy or exhaustion

  • Stress or anxiousness

  • Trouble sleeping or waking up

  • Mind feels scattered and trouble focusing

  • Foggy-headed or lethargic

  • General malaise; you feel off

If you feel any of these, it may be time to tend to your agni and improve your overall health. The most straightforward and effective way is by cleansing. An Ayurvedic cleanse strengthens agni throughout the system & maximize your body’s natural inclination to get rid of accumulated fat, toxins and mucus with a gentle, plant-based, mono-diet program which detoxifies and nourishes the body. A cleanse can initiate a powerful process to heal and renew on the physical, emotional and mental levels.

An Ayurvedic cleanse is all about drawing ama (toxins) out of the tissues and into the digestive tract so they can be eliminated. Tho at times uncomfortable, by the end the benefits include:

  • Clarity in the mental, spiritual, and emotional spheres

  • Sense on calm to nervous system and mind

  • Improved sense of energy & vitality

  • Healthy body weight

  • Balanced sleep cycles

  • Regular and balanced elimination

  • Deep nourishment and rejuvenation

  • Optimal health

A cleanse is generally centered around simplifying the diet and adding supportive lifestyle practices. The goal is to balance and strengthen agni and restore the body’s natural intelligence. This will reset our baseline health on a very deep level.

The cleanse process can be both curative and preventative because cleansing helps reinvigorate the body’s best internal defense mechanisms, and its capacity for repair and renewal. As a result, you can expect to see some truly profound changes following any cleanse.
